I had the pleasure of photographing a joyful 90th Birthday Party of the lovely Wilma in June here in Portland, Maine.
Wilma entered her party wearing a tiara and a beautiful smile.
Wilma’s daughter, who lives in California, hired Charity West-Maravell of As You Like Events to create a lunch that was fit for a queen. Close friends and family celebrated 90 years in a private room at DiMillo’s Restaurant. There were flowers, lace, balloons, cakes, cupcakes, whoppie pies, candies, a slideshow of pictures from the past and personalized champagne flute gifts for each guest. The table was sprinkled with notes that had fun facts about 1921 and even a feather boa drapped around Wilma’s chair. There was a delicious lunch infused with three musicians performing Broadway and jazz tunes. There were speeches that created laughter and some sentimental tears. There were many hugs, impressive dances and new memories made.
Wilma said it best… “I just want to say, because I didn’t want a large party, just my close friends and family. I love you all and I’m so grateful and blessed to have you here.”
