I stepped into the past for this Maine portrait in the Old Port. Kelley connected with me about having a portrait taken of herself and she had me at her sweet southern accent. She hired Alison Bogannan for hair and makeup which was the perfect choice because Kelley wanted a pinup look and this is one of Alison’s favorite styles. When Kelley arrived for the shoot and stepped out the car in a little black dress, she yells, “It’s snowing!” I didn’t see it at first but then I saw a snowflake land right on her hair. It was the first snowflake I’ve seen of this season and it only “snowed” for a second.
At one point during the session, I ran over to my car to grab something and when I came back, Kelley who was wrapped in a blanket to keep warm, shared that her, her Mom and her grandma are very close and whenever they would see the first snow of the year, they would call each other. Well, grandma passed away a few years ago so it was as if it was her way of saying she was with her during that moment when it snowed. Gave me goosebumps and I’m glad she shared that with me. This was an hour well spent. I love photographing personal portraits like this. I feel like Kelley walked away feeling like a bombshell. I know I felt so inspired and loved what was created.

Thank you Kelley for choosing me to photograph you! I hope we can do this again sometime!
