In all the years I’ve been doing weddings, I have never seen what happened at this wedding. YOU WILL NEVER EVER GUESS!? I’m totally skipping ahead here through the story because I just have to mention this right away.
The GROOM COOKED THE ENTIRE MEAL FOR HIS GUESTS. THE GROOM!
And it was delicious! 3 courses, each very good. Probably one of the most delicious burgers I’ve ever had. You think burgers at a wedding? Oh, let me tell you . . . divine! I can see why she said yes! 😉
Ok, now that I have started with the surprise twist of this wedding, let me get back to the story of their Marblehead, MA wedding weekend.
It all began in Salem, Massachusetts. I met them the night before their wedding for casual photographs around the wharf.
The rehearsal dinner was at 62 Restaurant on Pickering Wharf in Salem. There is a separate room they could dine in with their friends and family.
I began their wedding photography coverage at their ceremony location, Old North Church in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The history to this town is incredible. I could easily get lost in exploring this area. The bride, got ready with her Mom and two sisters in the bridal suite at the church. Her Dad made a visit as well which is always a sweet moment. The minute her veil went on, she really stepped into being a bride. The photo below of her under the veil really struck me as that moment was unfolding.
They had a 3pm ceremony and Rev. Dr. Dennis Calhoun married them.
The bride’s sisters sang during the ceremony.
The bride and groom wanted to make a visit to Marblehead Light located in Chandler Hovey Park on Marblehead Neck. Clouds were coming in so there was a nice even light for their portraits.
Thankfully, I arrived to the reception in time to photograph portraits and details because it did start to rain. However, everyone made the best of it. The kids took over one of the rooms to play games and even the groom who was doing all the cooking outdoors had fun with it. I think his Mom’s expression says it all . . .
After we all enjoyed dinner, a few toasts were made, the bride danced with her Dad in the rain and I caught private moment between the bride and groom before leaving.
A quiet, simple, fun gathering in the backyard of a beautiful B&B was the perfect place for these two to celebrate. I will never forget that the groom cooked the meal and hope they have some kids soon so we can have a picnic family photo shoot.
