Yesterday, I did something I didn’t think I was strong enough to do yet I found the courage and I only cried once.
I volunteered at the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk, Maine with my good friend, Nicki Fenderson of the Pixel Chicks. Our mission is to photograph the dogs in hopes to show more of their personality rather than an unfriendly, poorly lit snap shot. We had the pleasure of meeting the staff and having a tour of the facility. There is enormous dedication behind the scenes at this facility and it was very overwhelming to be in a place where people care so much. I’m so so so excited about this and hope that readers will share this post on their Facebook pages or Twitter feeds or anywhere to help these wonderful creatures find their forever homes.

Such sweet dogs with so much love just waiting to give a new home. Thank you Nicki for coming along with me on this adventure. You were awesome with the dogs and just what I needed to finally be able to do this. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave your thoughts below or send me an email : info@melissamullen.com or contact The Animal Welfare Society.

Ugh…my heart is aching! I would take them all home if I could!
Kudos to you for doing such a wonderful thing and giving these wonderful dogs a better chance at finding their forever home!
Thank you so much for spotlighting a few of our shelter dogs. Jake and Vinnie have both found their way into new homes but Timon and Katie are still waiting for their perfect person to find them. Timon is a real love and look at that “smile” on Katie’s face; she’s such a happy girl. Hope your followers will visit the AWS, meet them and see what great dogs they are! Thanks again!
