Aw, these two! You may recognize Maureen and Todd from their engagement session post. On December 5, 2010 at 5am Maureen and Todd met for the first time to do a race and now, here I am sharing their wedding weekend story. It’s magic hearing how people meet and then documenting the day they say I do. You can just tell by their smiles, that they’ve found what everyone searches for.
The weekend started at Clay Hill Farm in Cape Neddick, Maine. The venue is a bird sanctuary and has a lot of pathways to explore. Although, it was a bit steamy, I took a walk around the property to scope out some spots for portraits prior to the guests arrival. I find it truly amazing how people can look like they’re not sweaty hot at all while I’m a serious hot mess {thanks Dad for that genetic trait}. Baffles me though – people in suits, hair down looking spectacular – not a dang drop of sweat. So impressive.
Why do I love photographing the rehearsal and dinner? See the picture a few down of a groomsmen walking towards the trolley? That right there is why. That’s the grooms brother – also who recommended me who I hadn’t ever met until the day before the wedding – his expression is what I’m talking about. I don’t feel people are that at ease with me and the camera like they are when we’ve had some time together before the wedding. He was genuinely happy in that moment and felt comfortable being himself. So.very.awesome! He’s also very outgoing so it is possible he would have done that anyway but hopefully you get my drift.
This wedding you will find unique shoes MADE by an artist and friend of the bride, reason why I love New England’s old churches, sweet details, lovely people and a day well spent.
I hope you enjoy a peek into their York, Maine wedding story . . .
This is a photo you come across while editing and say out loud, “What in the world?”
But that may just be my sick sense of humor. Totally inappropriate and I’m so sorry but I can’t help myself from sharing.
