My Mom’s great friend was once asked, “Suzie, are you hungry?” Her answer, “I stay hungry.” This will forever be a running joke in our family.
Is it the weather? Is it my ridiculously overwhelming to do list? Is it that I live in the most amazing foodie city I’ve ever experienced? WHAT IS IT THAT is making me so hungry!? The “normal” items I go for like smoothies in the morning, salad for lunch are all still happening but at night I want PASTA with loads of grated Parmesan cheese. So, seeing this comic just made me laugh because it is soooooo how I feel right now.
This month I tried pizza from Micucci’s on India Street in Portland. I’ve heard about this for ages. I have one client who almost bows down when speaking of this pizza. It’s served in the back of the grocery and it’s ready when it’s ready. You pick your slab, put it in a mini pizza box, you pay your $4.50 and off you go. It’s a HUGE slab of pizza. Fork and knife are important here and yeah, believe what you hear. This pizza is something else. It’s like nothing I’ve tried before. The dough is light and the sauce is amazing. Really, it is bow down worthy.
I will always be a thin crust pizza girl {Otto is my best friend} but when I’m feeling like a big honking slab of Italian goodness, that’s where I’ll cure my craving.
What’s your favorite comfort food to cure those “I stay hungry” moments?
LOVE this post so much I’ve just featured it on my blog. I hope that’s something to smile about 🙂 But if it makes you frown instead, just let me know and I’ll take care of it.
