This lovely couple got engaged on Nantucket Island at Madaket Beach during a romantic vacation. The groom, Chris, had been trying to propose at sunset for an entire week before he finally found his moment. Already down on one knee taking photos of his bride-to-be, he pulled out a ring, and of course she said yes!
The wedding took place at the Newagen Seaside Inn, a historic oceanfront venue with a long tradition of hosting special celebrations. The couple always knew they wanted to be married in Maine, and choosing the Boothbay Harbor region, where they had been vacationing for years, was not a hard decision.
At the Seahorse cottage, the bride and her party prepared for the big day. Mary’s family and friends helped her with her dress and veil, and gave her words of encouragement before her first glance with Chris.
The couple’s first glance took place on a stunning cliff overlooking the ocean. I could tell just from taking their photographs that they are so in love, and so expressive. After a few moments alone, they headed to the ceremony by way of a romantic, treelined path.
Over a hundred guests looked on as Mary and Chris said their vows. Once again, the breathtaking ocean view provided the perfect backdrop for their ceremony. It was a beautiful day for pictures; the sun was shining bright over head and the sky was a perfect blue.
Afterwards, my second photographer, the awesome Kelly Anne Backus, and I took some formal shots of the couple and their wedding party. Some of my favorite shots are of Mary and Chris on the docks.
The reception decor was beachy, yet classic. The party itself was a lot of fun; Chris is hilarious, and made sure everyone was having a great time.
