I have volunteered with my gal pal, Nicki at AWS in Kennebunk, Maine to photograph the dogs – especially long term residents, senior dogs, black dogs and pit bulls to help get them adopted. This year, Nicki adopted a dog from AWS that had been brought up from Georgia by a team called Road Trip Home. AWS hosted an event yesterday that brought the team of rescuers and the dogs together for a reunion. I didn’t expect the event to be this big. A big turnout and awesome to be around so many wonderful people and the dogs they brought home.
This is Nicki with her new dog, Daisy – aka Provolone. She came to the shelter with a litter of puppies she just had. Her puppies were all cheeses as well, Mozzarella, Feta, Gouda, Cheddar and there may have been another one.
Daisy was a little weary at first. I don’t blame her. I imagine all the dogs remember the shelter and may have a little PTSD from the experience.
We settled in the shade and everyone was friendly coming by to meet and greet. A hairless mixed breed that we met. Hilarious!
Lots of character and beauty in these pups.
Once Daisy got adjusted to the environment and knew she was safe, she was onto the agility course. Little food motivation and she’s up, up, up and down the other side.
Good girl.
This pit bull and his Mom were meeting the woman {in green} who originally saved this pit bull and brought him here.
What a sweet moment, I don’t know these people or their dog and I was tearing up. He is one handsome dude.
There was love all around.
So, the most exciting thing was the big question. Will Daisy meet any of her babies!? She DID! This is Cheddar aka Snickers.
Nicki, Daisy, Snickers pose with Kaye – she’s the one who brought them all home.
Seriously an amazing couple of hours with wonderful people. Thank you Nicki for inviting me!!
xoxo . . .
What am amazing day that must have been! So much furry love!! A huge thank you to those who go and save these babies and those who give them forever homes!!!
