Just south of Camden, Maine, cradled between lush green hills and the blue waters of Penobscot Bay lies the Samoset Resort Hotel, a perfect retreat for a romantic getaway, family vacation or group outing. A legendary landmark, the recently restored Samoset Resort Hotel continues a tradition of gracious hospitality and service reminiscent of a bygone age.
Photographing weddings nationally for ten years, I have witnessed many different styles of venues. Last August, I had the pleasure of spending two days at the Samoset Resort documenting a perfect wedding. Working at the Samoset Resort by far exceeded any expectation. Will Clayton, the Executive Meetings Manager and Wedding Coordinator is excellent at his job. I have never seen a coordinator manage a staff so well and treat their clients and guests with such professionalism. He is so wonderful to be around, you really just want to be friends and I could tell the bride and groom felt the same. Every employee I encountered went out of their way and were genuinely happy to do their job. Refreshing to say the least.
Samoset has released their new events brochure which features the lovely Walker/Harris Wedding from August 2010. This brochure was beautifully put together and a piece, I think we are all very proud of! The brochure can also be viewed online so it’s a great way to pass along their information to anyone looking for a place to get married or for a getaway.
I highly recommend Samoset Resort. They sit at the top of my venue recommendation list for coastal Maine.
Why choose Samoset for your destination wedding?
1) Will Clayton. Will has worked at almost every job at Samoset, so he knows what it takes to deliver a high-quality wedding. In addition, he has the unilateral authority to make decisions for about 99% of your wedding arrangements. Will is also a Rockland native and City Councilor, so he knows the local businesses that can provide you competent service outside the Resort.
2) The Staff. The conscientious and caring staff will take care of your wedding party. No detail is too small and they’re always willing to help.
3) The Resort. Samoset is the best in Maine, if not in New England. Great golf, great food, great scenery – take a walk on the ¾ mile-long breakwater to the historic Rockland Lighthouse on beautiful Penobscot Bay!!
4) The Golf Course. The course is championship caliber and challenging enough for the low handicapper. It’s fun for everyone who remembers that golf is a game!
