The bride got ready at Abigail’s Inn, a bed and breakfast near the ceremony space. A small group of her friends and family helped her. Their intense love and support was infectious.
The ceremony took place at the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel, an outdoor chapel surrounded by lush gardens.
This venue was perfect for such an intimate ceremony, and the greenery was breathtaking at this time of year.
There is quite a history surrounding the chapel, which was once the Tamarack Hotel, until it burned down in 1954. The chapel was built in its place, using some of the hotel’s old stone foundation in the surrounding gardens.
During the wedding, Christina’s and Roy’s families participated in what is called a “blending of the sands” ceremony. Each member of the family carried a bottle of sand, which they poured into one large vase. The blending of the sands represented the blending of the two families, and the marriage of the bride and groom.
Another intimate part of their ceremony was the ring warming. Before they said their vows, Christina and Roy’s rings were passed around to each guest, who took a moment to bestow a silent blessing unto the couple.
It was a very emotional, yet captivating, moment for all.
After the ceremony, I took some stunning shots of the couple around the gardens…
…before making our way to the Cellardoor Winery for the reception…
The Cellardoor Winery had some of the most gorgeous views I’d ever seen.
The decór was a blend of rustic elegance, and the caterers really nailed it on the presentation.
Cocktails spilled over onto the deck overlooking the vineyards as guests chatted and celebrated the happiness of the day.
Small details, like this little wooden plaque (“It doesn’t matter where you go in life, it’s who you have beside you”), reminded us that this was a day to revel in love and marriage — while laughing and feasting in this gorgeous garden party setting.
Another highlight was Pete Kilpatrick, who provided the entertainment. He was wonderful to work with, and did a fantastic job keeping the energy up.
After dinner, Christina and Roy shared their first dance. Christina is a dance therapist, so she really knew her stuff.
When the rest of the guests got up to dance, they brought the house down.
Everyone was dancing their butts off! It was a blast.
