This Portland, Maine wedding was something special…
The bride and groom both got ready at their parents’ homes in Portland, Maine. I had a blast shooting at both locations. The groom’s mother was so innovative, holding Devin’s phone in front of him so he could watch a video on how to tie his tie, then helping him iron it out on an ironing board.
Meanwhile, Erin prepared for the big day in the house she grew up in…
…where I found a portrait of her parents on their wedding day.
The ceremony was performed at the Sacred Heart Church, an absolutely stunning venue located in the midst of the bustling city. The towering stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings set the scene perfectly for their service in front of the grand altar.
During the service, some wonderful ladies from Erin’s bridal party sang, and the couple lit a unity candle in honor of their marriage.
After the ceremony, the wedding party hopped on a trolley that drove them to Fort Preble in South Portland.
The fort was first built in 1808 and played a pivotal role in the Barbary Wars, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. It’s breathtaking views made for the perfect formal shots.
I loved the bridesmaids dresses, the colors and fabric looked amazing next to Erin and Devin. They really popped against the steel blues and greys of Maine’s coastal scene!
After the formal shots, the wedding party hopped onto the trolley again, which took us to the reception site, the Portland Country Club.
I caught some incredibly special moments between Erin and Devin while they were on the trolley. Surrounded by their friends and family, I could tell that this was truly the happiest day of their lives.
At the reception, Erin got changed into a shorter bridal dress to match her bridesmaids ensembles. She was so exuberant, tossing the bouquet with abandon and laughing wildly with her cousins out on the lawn.
All together, the couple, with their family and friends, made for an entertaining wedding and lively reception.
