Another beautiful summer wedding…
The bride and groom both got ready off-site. Kate was at a home near the venue with me, while Peter got ready with second photographer, Kelly Anne, at his parents’ home in Cumberland, Maine.
This wedding was all about florals. Kate’s dress was beautifully embroidered with a floral pattern, and their invitations were adorned with flowers.
Kate and Peter’s first look was held at the venue, the Maine Audubon, in the peonie garden. The flowers were in bloom just in time for their wedding. It was very romantic!
I captured the whole wedding party with a rustic barn as the backdrop. The group were easy to capture smiling because they were laughing the whole time.
At one point during the portraits, the guests all arrived on a bus. One of the groomsmen opened his jacket to hide the bride so that none of the guests would see her before the ceremony. Everyone cracked up! It was a good, fast reaction to hiding the bride.
The littliest ones were camera shy, to say the least…
The ceremony was held in a partly shaded field under a wooden arch.
My favorite moment was when the bride’s father shook Peter’s hand at the altar and said, “Please take good care of her.”
The couple’s friend Noah performed the ceremony. There were also two very unique and funny readings, which made the couple both laugh and cry.
I was able to photograph the couple’s alone time after the ceremony. The sun was setting, which made for some absolutely beautiful lighting when paired with the yellow flowers of the meadow.
Because the pair are both geologists, they chose to have a special seating chart based on different rock types. Guests were given their rock type and had to match it with the stone in the centerpiece to find their table.
The reception was held in a tent overlooking the property. The kids got to play around outside and the breeze kept everyone cool while they enjoyed cocktails and food.
Kate and Peter’s first dance was very sweet, and the toasts made everyone laugh.
During the father/daughter dance, Kate’s sister and nieces joined in, so Dad got to dance with all of his girls.
One of my favorite shots is from the end of the night. Though it’s taken from far away, you can still see Kate and Peter embracing under the reception tent. See if you can spot them!
