Maine Maritime Museum Wedding

I melted at this wedding.  Not because it was hot – the day had perfect weather . . . my heart melted during the ceremony.  Over the course of planning, I had gotten to know the bride, Molly and I’ve loved every interaction with her.  She’s a wonderful person so to hear these words spoken to her in front of all the people in their worlds was such a gift to witness.  I wish that all the ladies I love have a person in their lives that feel this way about them because my goodness.

Michael’s vows to Molly during their Maine Maritime Museum wedding ceremony.

“Molly,
I know that the vows are where I am supposed to promise you wonderful things that will make the rest of our lives even more wonderful, but I’m selfish.  So, I am going to ask you to promise me one more thing. I’ll get to that, but let me preamble for a minute longer.
There are a lot of people here today who have known and loved you for twenty-six years, eleven months, and twenty-one days; since the day you were born.  There are a few people here who are meeting you today for the first time, and there are many of us in between.
What is obvious to everyone is that you’re special.  It was obvious to me even the first time I spied you from behind a ping-pong table–
you attack everything you do with a desire not only to make it perfect, but to make it right and just. Let’s look around us today, for an example.  You pull it off every. single. time.
That’s why I’m so glad that eight years ago, about ten miles in *that* direction I saw you walk past me in the lobby of West Hall, clarinet in hand. I’m so glad that I get to be with a person who uses life as a tool and is willing to take the hard way if that’s what’s best.  So here’s the asking part: I ask you to promise me that you will never doubt yourself.  I never have, and I promise I never will, doubt your ability to accomplish anything. I’m just beaming with pride–kvelling–to know and to be able to say that you have willingly decided to let me spend the rest of my life as part of your amazing life.
Therefore, in front of our cherished friends and family, I vow to spend every moment of every day doing all in my power to ensure that for each moment, you feel fulfilled, challenged, excited, safe, healthy, and happy.  Not because I am contractually obligated to do so, but because nothing else could bring me more joy.  Molly, I thank you in advance for the rest of our lives together.  I love you, and I can’t wait.”
Thank you, Michael for allowing me to share this here.
Everyone got ready at the 1774 Inn in Phippsburg.  GORGEOUS place and the owners are really lovely people.  Molly did a quick wardrobe change before leaving the Inn to have cocktails with her guests prior to their ceremony.  Loved the flow of their day and timing of their ceremony.
