When a couple says, “We share Murphy the Boston Terrier Rescue and would like him to appear in some of the session photos.” I know we’re off to a great start. Mike and Suellen scheduled their engagement session and suggested Spring Point Ledge Light in South Portland as our location. I had seen the light from a boat heading to House Island yet I hadn’t been to the park. “We both like the craggy texture of the breakwater there” was their description and I had a feeling I’d like this place. I headed there a few minutes prior to our session to check it out.
There is a 900-foot breakwater that leads out to the light and beautiful views of the Portland harbor. The park has a few layers to it so you can be at sea level and then high above. Wonderful choice and a great evening for photography.
Meet Mike, Suellen and their Boston Terrier Rescue, Murphy.
It never, ever hurts to bring your dog to the session. It eases the . . . Hey, we’ve never met before and I’m about to kiss my person on command for you. Smiles come easy when you’re around your fur kid and I welcome their presence anytime. Mike and Suellen had a family member come along for the beginning of the shoot and then took Murphy so we could wander around.
They make me smile. The best part, is that I get the opportunity to capture their Portland/Cape Elizabeth, Maine wedding this spring. I’m kind of hoping Murphy plays a part . . . . 😉
